Folsom earned the top spot in the Wallethub’s 2016 study due to high marks in catagories such as: family life and fun, education, health and safety, low poverty, high median income and most affordable housing.
Folsom is a City in Sacramento County along the Hwy 50 corridor about 8 miles west of El Dorado Hills. The population of approximately 72,000 consists of culturally diverse residents from young families to active retirees. Folsom residents take pride in the safety and sense of community that the city provides.
Folsom is probably best known for its infamous Folsom Prison, but it is also home to recreational facilities such as; Folsom Lake, Lake Natoma, and American River. Also, Folsom City Zoo, Old Town, Folsom Premium Outlets and Palladio Shopping Center which includes Whole Foods Market, Palladio Luxe Theaters, Restaurants, Nordstrom Rack, Barnes and Noble, Chicos and many more.
The schools are top-rated — Folsom Cordova Unified School District has 15 schools in the city, which includes Folsom High School and Vista del Lago High, both recognized on the Best High School list by US News World Report. Folsom Lake Community College is one of the fastest growing in the country which features the Harris Center’s three stages, a performing arts venue offering world-class entertainment; theater, music, dance, and concerts.
